1857 - Princess – Britain’s sole surviving steam
powered potters mill.

Jesse Shirley refurbished the original factory with
the new mill becoming the centrepiece of the
factory. The mill was built in 1857 to grind materials
for the pottery and agricultural industries.

The mill ceased production in 1972 and in 1975 it
was listed as an ancient monument.
